Changing of the Game

NBA_Fan_Map.jpg

There are many aspects to the game of basketball which changes on a yearly basis.  As we have seen in the last few years, the rules of the game changed tremendously.  The rules and mechanics to manage the game as a basketball official evolves from the NBA all the way down to the High School level.  Depending on what the point of emphasis each year, we change the rule to better the entertainment from the fans point of view.

High School has adjusted their rules to create a more freedom of movement from the offensive player, to encourage high scoring games.  Most basketball officials now have adapted to last year's incorporation of the the 2 touch hand check foul in the men's collegiate game.  The women's game has incorporated that rule a couple of years prior.  Although incorporating these new rule changes as they come along during the regular season may be sufficient, I recommend attending the IPABOA camp on a yearly basis.  This way you are always a step ahead of the changes in the mechanics of the game.

NBA Rules Quizz/Questionnaire

One of the most powerful tool an official can posses is knowledge of the rules.  When all in doubt, you know that you can always revert back to the rules of the game.  We've included onto our site a NBA rules test/questionnaire application, which records your results and let you review after you complete the quizzes.  Sign up for an IPABOA upgraded membership account for $99 per year, you can take the practice as many times as you need.

If you have any issues or concerns please feel free to contact me via web form in the contact section of the site.

Thank you,
